Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This policy applies to every app published by Athanor Studio, and to this website. It explains what data our apps may collect, why, with whom it may be shared, and the rights you have. Our apps do not all work the same way: the general terms below describe everything we may do, and the app-specific notes at the end say what each app actually does. Where they differ, the app-specific note takes precedence.
Who we are
Athanor Studio is an independent app studio based in Paris, France. For any question about your data, write to contact@athanor-studio.io.
What we may collect
- Data you provide — for example when you create a profile, enter content in the app (meals, routes, notes…), or contact support.
- Content you choose to analyse — for example a photo you take in the app so that it can be processed (a meal, a climbing wall). See the app-specific notes for where that content goes.
- Device permissions you grant — camera, photo library, location, health data. Each is requested only when the feature that needs it is used, and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.
- Technical data — device model, OS version, app version, crash reports, and anonymous usage events, when the app includes analytics or crash reporting.
- Purchases — in apps that offer subscriptions or in-app purchases, payment is handled entirely by the store you bought from — Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never receive your payment details; the app only learns from the store which purchase is active, to unlock what you paid for.
- Advertising identifiers — only in apps that show ads or measure their advertising campaigns, and only with your consent where the law requires it (on iPhone, through Apple's tracking prompt).
Why
- To provide the features you use — this is the only purpose common to all our apps.
- To run community features, such as rankings, where some of your information is visible to other users.
- To keep our apps stable and secure (crash reports, abuse prevention).
- To understand how our apps are used and improve them (analytics).
- To show ads and measure them, in the apps that are ad-supported.
Legal basis
- Performance of the service for the data needed to run the feature you use.
- Consent for personalised advertising and third-party analytics, where required. You can withdraw it at any time from the app's settings or from iOS Settings.
- Legitimate interest for stability, security, internal analytics, and community features you can opt out of at any time.
- Legal obligation where the law requires us to keep or disclose data.
With whom data may be shared
We never sell your personal data. Depending on the app, data may be processed by service providers acting on our behalf:
- Infrastructure and processing — Google Cloud / Firebase (backend, crash reporting, app integrity checks), and specialised providers named in the app-specific notes when an app sends content to be analysed.
- Analytics — such as Firebase, Adjust, Mixpanel or GameAnalytics, in the apps that use them.
- Advertising — such as AdMob, in the apps that show ads.
- Apple — the App Store, Apple Maps, Apple Health, or any Apple service the app relies on, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Other users — in apps with community features, what you publish there (such as a pseudonym, a profile photo or activity totals) is visible to other users of the app.
- Authorities — only when we are legally required to.
Retention
We keep data no longer than the feature needs it. Content stored only on your device stays there until you delete it or the app. Data held on our servers is kept at most 13 months, except aggregated first-party analytics, kept up to 25 months, and what you publish in a community feature, kept until you remove it. Content sent for one-off analysis is processed for that request and not retained, unless an app-specific note says otherwise.
International transfers
Some providers are located outside the European Union. In that case the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to your data, its correction, its deletion, its portability, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time. For data stored only on your device, deleting the app is the fastest way to exercise deletion. For anything else, write to contact@athanor-studio.io; we answer within a month. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
Deleting your account and data
Some of our apps create an account on our servers — sometimes an anonymous one, with no email or password, as for Climbr's ranking. You can delete it, with everything attached to it, in two ways:
- In the app — in Climbr, “Delete my account” in Profile → Settings. The deletion is immediate, and also erases the logbook stored on your device.
- By email, without opening the app — write to contact@athanor-studio.io with the app's name and your pseudonym. We delete the account and its data within 30 days and confirm by email.
Deletion removes your data from our live servers. Copies may remain for up to 14 weeks in our encrypted backups, which are used only to restore the service after an incident; they are then erased automatically.
Data stored only on your device is not on our servers: deleting the app deletes it.
App-specific notes
Climbr — indoor bouldering logbook
- No sign-up, no ads. An anonymous account, with no email or password, is created automatically the first time you log an attempt, for the ranking and shared boulders.
- Your logbook stays on your device — your attempts and progress are stored locally and never synced. Deleting the app deletes them. What leaves the device is only what the ranking and shared boulders publish, described below.
- Ranking. By default, your pseudonym, profile photo and monthly totals are published in the in-app ranking and visible to other users. Gyms are identified by an encrypted key, never by their location. You can stop appearing at any time with “Appear in the leaderboard”, in Profile → Settings: your monthly totals are then deleted from our servers, while your account and pseudonym remain for shared boulders. Other users can report a pseudonym or a photo; we review reports and may hide a profile.
- Shared boulders. By default, the boulders you scan are shared on the page of their gym, visible to other users: the wall photo, the outline of the holds, the route's colour and your pseudonym. The photos are stored on our servers (Google Cloud / Firebase) for as long as they are shared. A wall photo may show other climbers; anyone can report a boulder, and we review reports. You can stop sharing at any time with “Share my boulders with my gym”, in Profile → Settings, which removes your boulders and their photos from our servers.
- Deleting your account. “Delete my account”, in Profile → Settings, deletes your account and everything published with it — ranking, shared boulders, pseudonym and profile photo — and erases the logbook on your device. See also Deleting your account and data.
- Wall photos are analysed by our server. When you scan a wall, the photo is sent to our backend (Google Cloud / Firebase) to detect the holds. For the scan itself, it is processed in memory and not stored; we keep only technical logs (timing, number of holds). A photo is kept only if the boulder is shared, as described above.
- Product analytics — the app uses Mixpanel to understand how it is used: which screens are opened, whether a scan succeeds, the name and town of your gym, and your subscription status, linked to a random identifier. Never the photo, your pseudonym or your location; Mixpanel may infer your approximate city from your IP address. Mixpanel is not used for advertising.
- Advertising measurement — the app uses Tenjin to measure which of our advertising campaigns brought you to the app. Tenjin receives your install, app opens, whether you saw the Climbr Pro offer, started a free trial or subscribed (with the price paid), and forwards these events to Meta so that our ads on Facebook and Instagram reach people likely to be interested. On iPhone, the device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is shared only if you allow it when the app asks (“Allow Climbr to track your activity…”); you can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Without it, the install is still counted without the identifier. On Android, the app does not use the Google advertising ID.
- Location, if allowed, is used only while the app is open, to show climbing gyms around you — through Apple Maps on iPhone, Google Maps on Android. It is not sent to us. On Android, a town you type in the gym search is looked up with Google's geocoding service.
- Camera and photo library are used only to take or pick the wall photo you choose to scan.
- Climbr Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription, sold and billed by the App Store or Google Play. The app checks its status with the store on your device to unlock Pro features; we do not receive your payment details or your store account. You can manage or cancel it at any time from your store account's subscriptions — on iPhone in Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.
Healthy Guru — nutrition coach
- Analytics and attribution — the app uses Adjust (install attribution), Mixpanel (product analytics) and Firebase (crash reporting and backend), to understand how the app is used and keep it stable.
- No ads. Healthy Guru shows no advertising and uses no advertising partner.
- Meal photos you take in the app are sent to our backend to be analysed and turned into nutrition data; the resulting entries are part of your food log.
- Apple Health — if you allow it, activity data is read from Apple Health to adjust your daily targets. Health data is never used for advertising and never shared with the partners above.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when. Material changes are announced in the app or on this page.
